Our team provides back end support to experienced System Administrators within a Tier III support structure.  We work on servers, databases, and configure web sites.  In this role, you can expect to provide Tier II technical assistance for domestic and overseas users of federal systems. You will: Provide detailed responses of a technical nature to client requests via phone, email, instant messaging and online ticketing application in a professional and timely manner; work with customers (some of whom are VIPs) who are system administrators for one application, and end-users for two other applications, some of whom are VIPs. 


The primary hours for the System Administrator are second shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 pm), however, flexibility is required to cover other shifts on occasion for this 24x7 team (1st shift: 7 am-3:00 am; 3rd shift: 11pm to 7am). In addition, this work is cyclical and requires the ability to effectively manage workload during peak periods and find ways to contribute to the team during down time.






  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) by developing working knowledge of the supported applications and the environments in which they are used; support SQL Server, Windows Server, IIS, Java, ASP and .NET based applications using SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Moxie content management system, and BMC Remedy; understanding of security and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues with supported applications and their systems and environment; use creativity to produce immediate workarounds for users; isolate the issue if escalating to other teams.
  • Provide detailed technical responses to client requests via phone, email, instant messaging and online ticketing application in a professional and timely manner
  • Proactively and effectively communicate with team members on different shifts
  • Utilize BMC Remedy to track support requests and share support efforts; escalate support requests to the appropriate Tier III support and other teams
  • Contact customers daily and close tickets within 3 days
  • Train end users, system administrators and junior staff on the supported applications
  • Assist Tier III developers and engineers with testing efforts



  • Active Secret Level Clearance
  • At least 1 year experience with Internet Information Services (IIS) installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • At least 1 year experience with SQL Server database installation, backup, restore, and migration; working knowledge of T-SQL scripting, and ODBC connection.
  • At least 1 year experience with Windows Server and workstation OS, .NET based applications, Internet Explorer, SharePoint end user and Office end user


  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Certifications in ITIL, Security + Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS.
