Java/Javascript Developer (Top Secret Clearance Required)  

Want to influence the design, development of a new open source enterprise web application? We are looking for creative individuals to support our intelligence community client to develop a web application in AWS Government cloud while providing O&M support to two production applications.  The work environment is a non-SCIF office space located in Washington, DC. 

The Law Enforcement Practice at Buchanan & Edwards is a trusted advisor to the Federal Bureau of Investigation whom we serve in a dynamic and solution-oriented environment. Our team supports two enterprise-level strategy web applications. These tools assist a global user base to capture, monitor, and report on headquarters and field office strategy. In addition to our two production systems, the team is focusing on building a new modern strategy tool to replace one of the existing production system. For this modernization, our stack may include a variety of technologies such as angular, Spring, Hiberate, TomCat, Oracle, and FlyingSaucer and Handlebars for reporting. The team also uses Jenkins and looking to incorporate Selenium for automation testing. 

In this role, you can expect to: Design and develop solutions in the cloud; standardize quality assurance procedures for software development; maintain existing websites using Java EE related technologies; oversee testing and develop fixes; and demonstrate your ability to design and architect a software component and write technical specification documentation.  

Work Location: Washington, DC 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the customer to define application objectives by analyzing user requirements, envisioning system features and functionality  
  • Create software products using Spring and Hibernate, Java/Javascript technology stack 
  • Manage code repository with Git and track progress in TFS 
  • Execute applications development through coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities 
  • Act as a resource to managers and employees in the organization 
  • Recommend development solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of various design implementations 
  • Actively participate in regularly scheduled team and client meetings  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in any of the following: 
  • Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, Java 1.8 
  • AngularJS, Angular, TypeScript 
  • Maven, WebPack, Gulp 
  • AWS

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with a team of developers to design and develop features and functionality for two Web-based applications
  • Actively participate in Agile Scrum SDLC activities
  • Define site objectives by analyzing user requirements-
  • Use Java and/or JavaScript to create and maintain software products using Spring and Hibernate
  • Execute application development through coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities
  • Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development options
  • Participate in new tool evaluations for introducing new tools into the technology stack
  • Perform unit and integration testing of software and resolve defects
  • Support developing Agile SDLC phase documentation.
  • Provide technical and/or operational support to project

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Active Top Secret clearance 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field  
  • At least 5 years’ experience with software development  
  • At least 3 years’ experience developing with: 
  • Java Platform Enterprise Edition (JEE) 
  • JBOSS EAP
  • Oracle Database 

Preferred Qualifications:
