    The Principal Systems Engineer (Windows) is responsible for base operating system engineering, design, integration, deployment, testing, certification, patching, installing support libraries, components and addressing application dependencies and interoperability issues.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with advanced knowledge for all Windows systems.
    • Design, engineer, integrate, implement, integrate, and support the Windows Infrastructure, components.
    • Expert in Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, multi factor authentication, and DNS.
    • Create and maintain physical and virtual Windows machines using Windows Deployment Services, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Systems Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), Hyper-V, and SQL Server.
    • Provision and configure web and SQL database servers, and storage.
    • Evaluate, improve, and maintain Windows environment security.
    • Monitor and correct critical server issues using native, add on, and third party tools including Resource and Development Kits.
    • Proactively ensure the highest system availability.
    • Monitor and test application performance, address bottlenecks, identify and implement solutions.
    • Maintain backups and environment redundancy.
    • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase efficiency and lower human intervention.
    • Provide 3rd level support.
    • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
    • Create and update system technical documentation including inventory, patch levels, hostnames, property numbers, IP addresses, enclave, cores, processors, admin passwords, certificates, and service accounts monthly.
    • Engineer and implement Windows single sign-on and multi factor authentication with FBI standardized software and hardware.
    • Continually transition knowledge and train government staff.
